2021-Present

Google One Tap is a solution Google launched in August 2021 that makes it easier for users to sign up and sign in with Google. It reduces friction by letting users sign in and up with one click and without passwords.

In late 2022 my team ran round one of an experiment that added One Tap to our Login, Register and Homepage Sign-up Sign-in surfaces. Our hypothesis was that it would reduce friction, resulting in better user conversions and increase GNARR from valuable Basic signups. We used a control design (what existed at the time) and two new designs for testing. Since our first experiment, we’ve continued to experiment further with a high success rate.

Conversion rates from 1st experiment:

On our Desktop Web surface, we saw annualized signups of 1.5M, a 13.8% lift in sign-up rate. On our mobile web surface, we saw 608K, a 8.2% lift.

Revenue Impact

On Desktop Web surface, we saw an annual GNARR impact of $4.9M and on mobile web there was an impact of $808k.
