General Motors: Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
UX & Design Lead
2013-2016
Before Maxis, GM had to build the Enterprise Data Warehouse first. In 2013, three new IT “Innovation Centers” were built that would focus on brining all of GM’s data into one, central, internal portal. Employees could search for reports and information and developers and data scientists could build reports and analytic models within it’s interface. It featured an advanced search, access to reporting tools such as Cognos and Tableau, help and training content for developers, access and admin management as well as onboarding to a variety of data and applications. It was very much a tool for an IT organization.
I was the first and only UX product designer hired to work on the project. I owned the the UX and visual design of the EDW Portal. I managed a UI architect and small team of front-end developers. I worked hand-in-hand with development leads, data scientists, business leads, Director of Global Engineering and Chief Information Officer.
